The Death of Democracy in Falls Church City – Totalitarianism is Alive and Well

Two high profile contentious issues were presented to the elected leadership in Falls Church City recently, the community spoke and the majority of the constituents were ignored.  Totalitarianism is on the creep in Falls Church City, Virginia.  Well known to be a bastion for liberal democrats, things took a turn for democracy in Northern Virginia when in August in Falls Church, the City Council rushed a gun ban through, with no live public comment, under the cover of COVID.  Championed by Council Member Ms. Letty Hardy, a minority and first generation immigrant from Hong Kong, the ban passed despite immense opposition at first reading andRead More →

Put Your Money Where Your Signal is Falls Church City

Race relations are at the center of political discussions these days and that is no less true than in our little city of Falls Church, Virginia.  Signs stating  “Black Lives Matter”, “Love is Love”, and “Diversity is Caring”  have cropped up all over the city as people make visual statements about their views on these stirring issues of the day.  Divisions run deep as the community debates and considers a proposal, in public meetings and comments to the school board, to strip our high school of its name.  Community members feel strongly that it is inappropriate to have George Mason, a slave owner himself beRead More →

FALLS CHURCH CITY COUNCIL BLOCKS LIVE COMMENT – MOVES FORWARD TO PASS GUN BAN

Tonight, where true to form that all politics is local, the national gun control debate moves into the 2.2 square mile city of Falls Church, Virginia. The City Council plans to vote to pass a broadly worded gun ban ordinance in Falls Church, with no live public comment arranged for the council meeting yet again. Despite the clear opposition voiced by many residents, the city has moved forward swiftly blocking a live citizen comment period in a stunning disregard for the 1st amendment and plans to pass this at the city council meeting tonight. At the Council meeting on July 27th, despite the public beingRead More →

Falls Church Citizens Push Back on City Council’s Plans to Pass Gun Ban

The Falls Church City Council tonight at 7:30 p.m. is taking to first reading proposed language for a gun ban ordinance in the little city of Falls Church, Virginia. The city wide ordinance would prohibit the possession, carrying or transportation of any firearms, in public buildings, parks, recreation and community centers and street events where events or rallies, requiring permits, are taking place and to include the streets, public alleys and sidewalks adjacent to those events.  This would also include ammunition, or components or combination thereof in said spaces.  It will not make an exception for law abiding citizens who possess concealed handgun permits issuedRead More →
